The Heatwave

The Heatwave

Founded in 2003, The Heatwave have toured throughout the UK and performed internationally in Europe, Canada, USA, India, Australia and Jamaica. Their explosive live performances have been a regular fixture at Notting Hill Carnival over the last 10 years, playing on trucks, soundsystems and local afterparties.

They have grown to become a bonafide ‘must-see’ feature on the UK summer festival circuit, playing Glastonbury, Lovebox, Reading and Leeds, Bestival and Boomtown in recent years. Their notorious Hot Wuk party is one of the UK's longest-running dancehall events, packing out venues all over England since 2009 and selling out KOKO on carnival weekend four years in a row.

After 15 years building a name in the upper echelons of the UK dancehall scene it was a natural progression for The Heatwave to start making music. Drawing on years of experience playing to crowds of all backgrounds, The Heatwave have crafted a sound that stays true to dancehall foundations while adding their own unique London twist.

The Heatwave's third single ‘Walk Out Gyal’ featuring Mr Lexx and Keida was shortlisted for ‘Best Track of 2017’ at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM awards. The video for club banger ‘Closer To Me’ with Stylo G was shot in Jamaica in summer 2018 featuring several of the hottest dancehall queens from Kingston and premiered by Link Up TV. Their releases have been supported by David Rodigan, Seani B, Toddla T, DJ Target, Bobby Konders, Mistajam, Tim Westwood, Robbo Ranx, Annie Mac, Ras Kwame, Sian Anderson and more.

The Heatwave's ever popular dancehall mixes have had over two million Soundcloud streams and they have held down the only dedicated dancehall show on Rinse FM since 2009. In 2008 they compiled the legendary album ‘An England Story’ for Soul Jazz Records documenting a history of UK MCs from 1983-2008.

The Heatwave also organise the ‘Showtime’ events, a JA-style live show with UK artists such as Wiley, General Levy, Top Cat, Skibadee, Rodney P, Stylo G, Stush, Glamma Kid, Flowdan, Tippa Irie and more all chatting over classic dancehall riddims.
